Which Part of the House Should be the Cleanest?

It is 6 pm in the evening, time to prepare that sumptuous meal. I am so exhausted but I just have to do this because I cannot handle the rambles in my stomach. I get to the kitchen to start the preparations but alas! I can't even find the knife? Where is the knife? I start my search  in the sink full of dirty utensils from last supper. I am so exhausted to even clean a spoon. Where do I start from now?

It is 10 am, Saturday morning. I woke up 30 minutes ago. I didn't even wash my face! I went straight to the kitchen to prepare a cup of hot Coffee because I was feeling too lazy to prepare something decent. With my mug of hot coffee I settle on my couch full of clean clothes that I washed last Saturday. Don't judge me! I am a busy woman. My glass table still has stains from last week. The floor is a mess. The door bell rings! Who could that be? I ask myself.

I walk to the door and peep through. What the hell! What is Amos doing here this early. My long time crush is here and with his friend too. What will they think of me? I tiptoe back and carry the clothes to my room and dump them on my disorganised bed. I rush back and try to put the pillows in order. I go to the door with a wide smile spread on my dirty face and usher them in. We sit in silence. All this time I am wishing that they should not request to go to the toilet because it is a big mess. My crush knows me as a very neat lady and I can't give him any leads to think otherwise. Just when I am thinking of breaking the silence, a big fat cockroach decides to do it for me as it moves in slow motion across the floor as if to say, "Hey there? This is my home!" I clench a fist and lower my face in shame!

Pause

I have been to so many houses. There are those you get in and don't wish to leave because, boy! It is a heaven of its own! The living room decor is just amazing! The arrangement too is so spot on! The kitchen is spotless and the toilet looks like another small living room. So neat! On the other hand, there are houses you get in and wish to leave immediately. All you meet is a disorganised, stuffy living room. The living room speaks for the kitchen and toilet. Your thirst sends you to request for water and when it arrives, the dust and smell of the glass quenches your thirst. When food is served, you wish for hell to swallow you alive because you can't trust the food with your stomach.

Just which areas do you prioritize when cleaning your house? Is it the leaving room, kitchen then rest room? Well, your kitchen has to be clean at all times because it prepares the meals you eat. Don't get into the habit of piling utensils on the sink. Rather, wash them immediately you are done using them. Always keep your cooking area clean too!  The living room presents your image to the visitors and therefore it has to be neat at all times. Don't use kids as an excuse for having a disorganised living room for you can keep them away from it during the better part of the day. The toilet too has to be clean at all times firstly because it is shared by many and if not cared for properly it can lead to infections in the private areas. Secondly, what we dispose from our stomachs doesn't have a pleasant smell of roses and so you don't want a situation where you open the door and you are welcome by an awful smell. Invest in a toilet cleaner and air freshener.

In short, always ensure that the three main areas (living room, kitchen and toilet) are clean at all times. You can be excused with a disorganised bedroom because that is a private room and it can remain locked 90 % of the times when it is not in use. That does not however mean that it should be neglected. You don't expect beautiful dreams when your sheets have never been changed since January. My friend!  This is April!
