EMBRACE BROTHERHOOD! URGES CS KAIMENYI

Kenyans have been urged to shan the they mentality and focus on working together on matters urban development.
Speaking during the launch of the Kenya Urbanization Review which was spearheaded by the World Bank Group yesterday at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cabinet Secretary for Land, Jacob Kaimenyi said that there is need for Kenyans to work together to help the country move forward.
"It is not like we don't have laws in this country. Enforcement and non-compliance from most of us is the main challenge. "
The CS expressed disappointment that after the collapse of a building in Huruma in 2015, inspectorate units were established and when they went to key inspection areas, they faced death threats from murderers and cartels.
On this, he advised Kenyans to work together with concerted efforts to expose the criminals for who they are.
"Be your brother's keeper. When you go to a site where a buiding is being constructed and you notice everything is not going right in terms of standards, what is your responsibility? Silence only implies that you are conspiring with the criminals and it cannot help us as a nation." Said Kaimenyi.
Responding to a question on potholes on the roads, he said that all of us have to practice professionalism.
"We construct roads and within three years or less, we have potholes everywhere. The state of Thika Super Highway is wanting yet somebody might have issued a completion certificate. Let us apply what we have learnt. "
He insisted that those in the professional bodies have to deregister those who are not performing.
CS Kaimenyi also mentioned that, the government is doing something about traffic jam issues, and it is also going to look into the past and present land grabbing cases.
