The Cry of the Aged
When we think of old people we associate them with being needy and very complicated. Some of them may have contributed to this perception because anytime someone visited, they gave a lot of chores to do and later complain about how the chores were done. Even I, would avoid such a person. But what we constantly overlook is the fact that, they are human and like every one of us, they crave for attention, love and care.
The aged mostly need people to talk to, tell stories, be assisted in areas involving current technology and send them to minor errands. If this is done on a daily basis, living with old people is fun. So if it is so easy, why are they neglected? That is simple. When their children become independent they develop a holier than thou attitude.
Children decide that their parents are an embarrassment because they may not fit in their fancy lifestyle, they do not understand the latest trends or even the fact that they might call you out when they spot you doing something creepy despite your surroundings. For this petty reasons, old people are neglected and expected to live in the rural areas by themselves with no one to care for them. Even worse, some live in dishevelled houses where their children and relatives visit once a year making them feel lonely and unwanted. This is saddening especially considering the years your parents spent working so hard to ensure you lacked nothing while they wore tattered clothes or even worst, slept on hungry stomachs.
I ask you my dear readers, do you think old people deserve this fate? Living their twilight years alone? Receiving little or no love?
The aged people are crying and it is piercing the soul....
